NAFE AWARDS

Just got back from New York attending the Nafe awards for the year 2009.  Some awesome women were honored.  Go to www.nafe.org and read all about them.

A most delightful time as we drove to the Poconos in Pennsylvania.  We, Robbie, Fannie and me had delightful lunch at Mollie's in Stroudsburg.  The snow started falling so fast that when we left there after about two hours meeting with wonderful people, we had to head down the hills since we did not have chains on the car.   It had been such a long long time since I have been where it was snowing and I turned into the kid on Christmas morning.   I just could not wait to see it happen and I did not miss the experience and the views were everywhere.

I feel, see and hear the sounds of the experience as it has etched itself into my memory.  Let's hear some more first time or going back to pleasant times to give the mind a much needed rest from the mundane life.

Holiday time and it does create a lot of stress for most of the people.

Part of Bodacious Living is to learn to release stress and live in the moment.  If you are totally stressed you do not even know you are in the moment as the negative energy goes to something that has happened in the past or that is immanent in the future.  Just a few tips to help you have  a happier holiday season.

1. Stop where you are and take a deep breath.  As you breath in be aware of every area of your body receiving the oxygen and then exhale the tightness from within releasing it through every part of the body..   Just be aware of these thoughts and do this for 11 times.  There is magic and power in the number  eleven.  It goes past the perfect ten another degree and falls below the dozen.

2. Take a look at what might be the cause of the stress.  Don't bottle the negative stuff until it is ready to explode.  Talk to a trusted friend, perhaps one with a deep understanding of you.  That trusted friend needs to be able to lift your spirit, lighten your burden and one who is able to laugh at some of the confusion of life.  One who does not judge you and can often help you solve your stress with their input.

3. As quickly as you can LAUGH.  Do whatever it takes to makes you laugh.  A hearty belly laugh will decrease stress.  Dr. Arnold Bresky says you need 9 belly laughs a day to put serotonin in the brain and shift into a relaxed state.  When you are happy tell your face and others around you will give back that wonderful energy created by a big smile.  It just makes you feel good all day.

4.  How about taking care of you first?  Make a list of what makes you feel good.  Is it reading a book, taking a hot bath, going to a move, having a glass of wine with a friend or a walk in the woods or the neighborhood and enjoy the beauty of nature.  In fact list at least 11 things that you enjoy and do at least one of them each day.  This is what I call "ME LIST FOR ME."

5. SEND ME SOME OF THE SPECIAL THINGS THAT YOU DO TO DECREASE STRESS.

Remember the tip you share with someone else just might shift them into a life of Bodacious Living.
