There is lots to love about these two restaurants. I think, outside of California, Soup Plantation is called Sweet Tomatoes.
Whatever the name, we've yet to find one where we weren't fully satisfied.
They are buffet style with plenty of choices for SAD'ers, vegetarians, vegans and even raw vegans. As you go in, their salad bar is your first stop. They usually have a choice of pre-made salads and everywhere in the restaurant you'll see signs posted that tell you "non-vegetarian", "vegetarian" and "vegan". After the pre-mades, there are usually a variety of lettuces, 2 types of cabbage (raw), cukes, tomatoes, grated carrots and sometimes squash, broccoli and then many prepared items often including potatoes, noodles/pasta, and more! (This all depends on the size of the restaurant.)
At the register they'll ask your choice of beverage and give you a glass pertaining to water or other.
Once seated, go and fill your glass then cruise around to the soups "made from scratch", bakery, pasta section and deserts. The ones we've been to also have soft-serve ice cream with toppings.
BTW ~ if you go often, you'll want to join Club Veg. They'll send you coupons that will save you quite a bit of money. Tip: even though I only drink water there, they often have a 2-for-1 coupon and you have to buy drinks. For two of us, even adding the drinks, we save approximately $3.50 with that particular coupon.
Before leaving, please drop a couple of dollars on the table for you bus-person especially if s/he's been observant in cleaning your table and friendly.
