Craving and "Treats"

What to Do?

So often I see people posting on forums or just saying "... this is a healthy 'treat'" or "Don't deny yourself a (SAD) treat" or "Eat whatever you want once a week".... then people complain about cravings while "attempting" to eat healthier. "Oh! You'll never be able to change your diet if you deny yourself "treats" every once-in-awhile."

Question is, is that true?

What I've found personally is, as long as I indulge in nutrient-less "treats" and that could be something as simple as bread to something such as red velvet cake or even a once-in-awhile raw vegan dessert, I'll always desire and make up excuses for eating junk! That taste, that desire stays there!

On the other hand, when I've not indulged in a few weeks of not eating sugary, salty, oily junk, I may HAVE the craving at some point, have the item and go.... "Euuuuuwww! Ick! WTH??? Yuck!" That's when I know I'm over it!

Sure, there are times when I'm out shopping and haven't eaten that a craving comes around yet, now, I can walk by the stuff and, it doesn't look like food anymore. I'll be sure to pick up something I REALLY enjoy, like cherries and have at 'em!

Two of the hardest things for me to eliminate were bread and cheese. Now, my honey has both in the house and, no desire. Why? Partly because I have indulged and find I couldn't feel any life force in either. Not like I can feel in food!

With cheese too, I don't like the taste or texture. It's become "ICK! "

Whenever I see someone post something in a group/forum that you "should" eat on "special occasions" my first question is, "Where are the nutrients?" Yes, I can see TAKING something to an event that looks familiar to people (and leaving any leftovers there) yet, why not something that is healthy and nutrient-dense? Why does it have to be something "familiar"? Why not let people know who you are? Let them taste how good "healthy" can taste AND feel? Letting folks know what you eat? How about being real?

So, how to get past this? Eat nutrient-dense foods and lots of them! When fruit is in season, indulge! One of the best things I've learned to do for myself is, after eating a fully satisfying, nutrient-dense meal and I STILL feel hungry, I know it's because I've probably not gotten enough of the "sweet taste" so, I have one, maybe two medjool dates or, some sweet, juicy melon. I'm done!

Oh! Another thing I've found is, when I'm nutritionally satisfied, I can feel when I eat something that's nutritionally-deficient and what I crave is something with nutrients!!! How fun is that?

Eating to Live

Eat to Meet Long-Term Goals, Not Short-Term Satisfaction

The reason I began the "Eat to Live" program was because I wanted to eliminate excess fat and weight in the most healthy manner. 6-8 of my friends were doing it and receiving fantastic results as in dropping about 1 pound per day without starvation and/or deprivation. They had "tried" McDougall's "Starch Solution" first, began dropping weight, then stopped. What turned them on to Fuhrman is the "nutrient-density" part of his program. Focusing on greens, color-filled vegetables, beans, fruit, nuts and seeds made sense. It seems most, if not all of the above have more nutrients, micro/phyto, etc., and anti-cancer properties than starchy foods which, for many lend to overeating not to mention the stuff they tend to put on starches. So, I borrowed the book from the library, twice. I borrowed it on Kindle.... then bought the Kindle version AND the paperback. I mark my books, I reread my books. My books are a mess yet I read and reread and reread ~ O.k., did I drop the weight? Yep! Easily, creating fun meals, new tastes, new textures... BUT, side benefits! The environmental allergies/animal and foods ~ disappeared. Most importantly for me, the heart issues I was experiencing almost daily by that time ~ tachycardia and angina ~ lessened and now, have stopped! THAT I did not expect! This is NOT a food program that you stop after reaching your weight goal. It's a lifetime of health ~ NUTRIENT~ DENSE! Can't beat that!

Unlike people who drop weight with gimmicks ~ ONLY juicing, smoothies, whatever, this program provides nutrients, fiber, etc. Not saying don't juice, don't smoothie (I have a smoothie almost daily) ... I AM saying EAT FOOD!

When I see all the "detox" programs going on as I'm posting this I just shake my head. It is SO easy to be nourished and allow your body to detox by eating food. The fiber in the food will take anything that needs to be removed with it. It's so simple people don't "believe" it works! Well, it does! Eat food! Simple!

Holistic vs. Allopathic Natural Healing

I awakened this morning thinking about some posts in groups I'm in. At one level, I feel that with all many of us have done and how far many of us have come, people STILL feel the need to do what we did. In fact, they COULD bypass much of it and heal SO much faster! These groups, books, videos weren't even around when I began.

For instance, when I first began my self-healing journey almost 40 years ago, I did what I now call "allopathic natural healing" meaning I had a symptom and then I read an article on what vitamin/mineral/herbal tea/product, I could purchase to eliminate that symptom. Believe me, I went through a LOT! I also joined a whole lot of mlm (multi-level marketing) companies in the process! Might as well have someone else "pay for my products", right? Wrong! That rarely happened.

I found only one line of products that made a difference for me yet they were SO expensive AND it was temporary and, I was not the best sales person. Only when someone said, "you look great! What have you been doing?" I'd mention the product. Problem was, people who didn't know me, didn't know the "before" and "after".

For the asthma, I tried every vitamin, herbal tea, chiropractor, acupuncture. What made a temporary difference was the acupuncture when I was in the midst of almost dying from an attack and the chiropractor who recommended certain herbs as teas. YET! Those were temporary solutions!

What to do? Well, I found someone who worked with me on changing my health and, my occupation! (KNEW I had to share what I was learning and continue to learn). He told me he'd only work with me if I went vegetarian. O.k., well, I'd planned on that for 9 years previous yet, had no clue how to do it healthfully so, it didn't happen. I also had to eliminate wheat and dairy. That made a HUGE difference.... I'd say 70-80% with the asthma. Then, we had to deal with the emotional aspect. Now, in truth, we didn't work specifically with the asthma. We worked with overall ~ holistic ~ health and healing which included the food program, movement, rest, water and mental-emotionl balancing. (Allopathic or "western medicine" rarely does this!) Doing this, the asthma ~ which had almost killed me twice ~ went away of its own accord. My skin improved! My suicidal depression eventually disappeared! my sub-personalities became aligned ~ for the most part.) Misperceptions (on my part) balanced out! My heart issues disappeared as did my allergies. In other words, true holistic healing.

Understand, our bodies are not like cars where the transmission has a problem, the mechanic pulls the transmission fixes it ~ done! When we have an issue with (seemingly) one organ or system, or have a dis-ease (a bunch of symptoms the docs have given a name to), everything is out of balance, not just that one organ, system or symptom yet, we tend to "treat" the organ, system or symptom instead of the whole person. THAT's what holistic means! Upgrading the level of health across the board.

So many times, I have people tell me, "I've tried everything and nothing works!" There's NO WAY one can "try" everything. Either they've not gone deep enough into what they've "tried" or they've not done it long enough. Taking a pill, rubbing on essential oil or an herb for something is just a distraction or a temporary "band-aid". Upgrade your food program, get up and move, get enough rest, drink enough water, balance your emotions .... Life is simple. Stop complicating it.

Continuing Learning the Why

When I began my health journey almost 40 years ago, I did what many are currently doing ~ looking at the dis-ease and then "trying" to fix it with what I call a "band-aid."

They read or hear somewhere that this vitamin/mineral or this product or this essential oil or herb will relieve their symptoms or, help them drop the extra weight. Well, they MAY yet, they're only temporary solutions if they "work" at all. Question is, how long you going to use those things and what happens when you stop?

For instance, a close friend has a skin condition which, when he drank coconut water, went away! Problem is, as coconuts became more expensive, he stopped drinking it. Skin condition returned. Why? The root cause had not been addressed.

For me, after being married for almost 10 years, and gaining an extra 40 pounds, I "tried" all the most popular "solutions" including cinnamon, coconut oil; walking 10,000 steps a day (I actually began walking 10 miles a day); eating one "healthy" meal and then eating LOTS of popcorn with cinnamon and coconut oil (popcorn has few calories and I was basically starving myself). That not only did not assist me in dropping excess weight, I GAINED more! When I upgraded my food program and began eating MORE, the weight easily dropped off.

What it comes down to is WHAT we eat! When on a healthy, plant-based, whole foods program, you can eat as much as you want; drop excessive fat and gain health. No calorie counting (whole foods tend to contain little to no calories, especially vegetables); no checking numbers, no tricks and tips. Just eat food!

As a health practitioner and educator people keep accosting me (yes, that's my word) with all kinds of MLM (Multi-level marketing) products! They think they'll add to my practice. Yes, they'll add a loss of integrity. I teach people to eat food! Not junk! Not products! Food!

Now, what does that mean?

We "think" of everything we put in our mouths, no matter where it comes from ~ bottles, packages, cans, etc., ~ as food, yet, most of those things are processed food products devoid of most nutrients. Food contains not only macro nutrients ~ protein, carbohydrates, fats ~ yet micronutrients and phytonutrients, some of which haven't even been found yet and certainly lost during the processing and packaging processes!

People often say how the land our produce is grown on is depeleted therefore the produce doesn't contain the nutrients it "used" to contain. That MAY be so yet, those food products contain even fewer nutrients. Those isolated nutrients listed on packages could be gotten way easier, are more assimilable AND intact and combined with the micro/phyto nutrients nature put there for our consumption and health just by eating the food they came from.

What I and my clients have found is, upgrade your food program and your health also upgrades while excess weight declines.

Is it simple? Yes! Easy? Well, not if we listen to our heads and other people. Our heads (and other people) come from fear! When I first became a vegetarian, I was told I wouldn't live a year. Well, I'm still here and in the best shape ever!

So, how to do it: Eat more greens! WAYYYY more greens! A side-salad once-a-day is not even minimal. I'm talking about a pound a day of greens! How to do this? Smoothies, for one! You can easily add a couple of handfuls (to begin) into a fruit smoothie. The fruit hides the taste. As you become more adventurous, add more!

Then, more greens, steamed, water-fried or raw for your next two meals! Eat a LOT! The more you eat, the more you'll drop excess weight, the healthier you'll become because you'll be obtaining the nutrients ~ micro and phyto ~ which you've not been receiving previously.

Greens may include all the leafies ~ Romaine, spinach, chard, kale, bok choy, water cress, dandelion, etc. Remember also, broccoli, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, etc.

Color-filled vegetables including bell peppers, cucumbers, jicama, red cabbage, green cabbage, and whatever else you enjoy!

Fruit! LOTS of fresh and even frozen fruit!

Beans and lentils ~ Do you know that beans are nutritionally more beneficial than grains and GREAT for diabetics?

Mushrooms! Yes, many tell me they LOVE mushrooms and, others, like myself ~ it's certainly an acquired taste. But, so what? Mushrooms enhance immune system function and assist in preventing various cancers. Remember, mushrooms should be slightly cooked to eliminate the carcinogin factor.

Seeds and nuts! Yes, I also know many are allergic to nuts so, go for the seeds! Doesn't need to be many yet, they are full of nutrients so about 1 oz. a day of raw seeds and nuts will enhance your health tremendously. Remember to add in chia, flax and hemp!

A few books I recommend which helped me be free of allergies ~ animal/food/environmental; eliminate asthma; stop heart irregularities including tachycardia and angina ~ and other stuff. I have NO joint pain and take no meds. I turn 66 Feb., 2015.

Eat to Live This is the very first book I got because I thought it was just for eliminating weight! Boy, was I wrong! W/in weeks, I HAD easily dropped excess weight (with no starvation or deprivation) yet, I was also able to sleep through the night; the heart issues stopped AND, I was able to go to a concert at a ranch, sit on a hay bale and be around horses!!!! Wow! If I'd only known earlier!

End of Diabetes I'm not even close to having diabetes yet, many of the people I work with do so I got this and am reading it for understanding. I KNOW the EtL program is all they need yet, this really explains more about what diabetes is, why people have it, what insulin does to us, etc. It's mostly for D-2 yet, people with D-1 have found, following the program, they are able to lower their insulin dosage.

Disease Proof Your Child ~ We have no children yet, I purchased this to give to a client who does. Well, I still have it. Found it fascinating. I'll be re-reading this one again soon.

Dr. Fuhrman has a few other books and videos. I recommend them all. I've read almost all except his latest ~

End of Dieting ~ which I just received yesterday.

People may say that all you need do is read Eat to Live ~ it's all there. This is true yet what I've found for me is, in order to learn at deeper levels, it helps to hear things more than once and in different contexts.

For all the benefits I've seen so far on his program, I want to learn more about the "why"! I've got the "what" and the "how" yet, not yet the "why."

Fitting In ~ Or Not

What's Your Priority?

I awakened this morning thinking about how many adults are afraid to be different. In my world, this often pertains to eating differently.

Take a moment and look back to being a teen-ager (or maybe even earlier). At some point we probably declared that we want to be different! Individuals! So, what did we do? We joined other "individuals" whose hair looked like ours; who dressed like us; who listened to the same musice, etc.

Sometime, during our transition to adulthood, we found ourselves "fitting in"... wanting to become educated similarly; becoming "responsible"; "growing up"; getting jobs; getting married; having children, etc. while never having really expressed our individuality.

Yet, at some point, something happened. Maybe we became ill or had been having chronic illness for quite some time and realizing doctors couldn't help us! Or, someone in our family had or has a genetic disease and we heard that changing our food program, doing meditation, yoga, EFT, could potentially help us avoid the same fate (as genetics usually only plays about 5% in our health ~ what THEY ate or did plays about 95%). So, we did a search and realized that, just maybe, changing our way of eating could assist in upgrading our health and healing our lives.

So, we began joining groups of "like-minded" people ~ people who understand what we're going through ~ and, we're afraid! We're afraid to eat "differently"! We're afraid to be different! We're afraid to ~ shall I say it? Be individuals!

How do we explain to people why we eat plant-based whole foods? How do we explain to our friends and family that eating this way makes a difference without them becoming defensive? How do we tell people that we're doing it for our health? Don't they see? Well, yes, and no. They see yet, many don't want to see. Making changes is scary! "What if, I do that and I don't feel better?" "Well, you've got to die sometime and I'd rather die enjoying what I want ~ even if it's killing me." "What do I do over the holidays when everyone else is eating turkey and I'm eating vegetables?" "Going out with my friends is so hard!"

What, imo, it comes down to is.... Is your health a priority or, is it not?

One of the things that's making major difference for me in maintaining my eating habits is doing EFT daily. Yes, I have had those issues yet, when I maintain a daily practice, it becomes less of an issue. I've also got a group of friends ~ online and off ~ who support my endeavors to be and remain healthy. My health and feeling REALLY good every single day of my life is important to me which is why I eat the way I do and do the things I do. What will you do?

Natural Ways to Boost Your Body's Immunity

Naturally Building Our Body's Defenses

Envision a nation that lacks a competent army to guard itself against invaders and intruders. Or consider what might happen to your crucial documents and files if you left your computer with virtually no competent defense against malwares and worms. In just about any imaginable situation, we know all too well that trying to keep things defenseless is like walking on a tightrope of potential disaster.

Exactly the same holds true with the human body, a system that is so basic yet at once intricate in its operation and processes. Without our body's built-in system of defense against bacteria, infections, germs, viruses and other foreign bodies, our organs and essential bodily functions could very well be time bombs just waiting to explode. However thanks to our immune system, our body's critical line of defense against diseases, infections and other health conditions, we are guarded against intruders that jeopardize the daily functioning of our bodily systems.

Our immune system is essential to maintaining health and vitality and protects and often eliminates what would normally be seasonal bouts of colds and flu in the course of our lifetime which reminds us of how our daily functioning is impacted when we let our body's defenses down. Even worse, a fragile immune system makes us prone to attacks of more potentially destructive bad cells such as cancer and autoimmune diseases.

Any time our immune system is compromised, regardless of whether via genetic predisposition or due to the environmental challenges that we come across on a daily basis, our body's natural ability to fend off the bad guys wanes and we are left defenseless against a number of infections and other health conditions. Simply because not all immune systems are created equal, sustaining an immune system enhancing approach to health will assist us through and beyond the challenges we might face.

 Eat Plenty of Greens, Color-filled Vegetables, Beans/Lentils, Mushrooms, Fruit, Nuts and Seeds ~

Implementing a food program that is rich in not only macro nutrients (protein, carbohydrates and fat) but also micro and phyto nutrients found in green foods, beans and lentils, fruit, and nuts and seeds aids in replenishing white blood cells (among other things), thereby fortifying the immune system.

* Cruciferous greens such as broccoli, cabbage, chard, bok choy and kale enhances the liver's immune function by increasing its ability to remove toxins.

* Brightly colored vegetables and fruit such as carrots, citrus fruits, apples, berries and onions are rich in antioxidants that eliminate free radicals and improve the immune system.

It is also helpful to make a dietary habit of incorporating certain foods that are known to boost the immune system.

* Examples of such foods are: raw and water-sauteed garlic which is a great antibacterial and antiviral compound; ginger cleanses the lymphatic system, lungs and sinuses; avocado is rich in amino acids and a good source of antioxidants and healthy fats; and mushrooms contain beta glucan, a complex carbohydrate that boosts immunity against infections, allergies and cancers.

 * Eliminate refined sugars found in sodas and sweets because they suppress the ability of white blood cells to ward off bacterial attacks.

* Drink a good amount of water, (often stated to be half your body-weight) some nut or seed "mylk", smoothies and herbal, caffeine-free tea to further improve your immune system.

Enjoy Excellent Rest and Sleep

While you sleep, your body repairs itself and restores its ability to function properly. When we are sleep deprived which often happens when we eat poorly, our body is not able to function optimally not just in terms of mental alertness and physical ability. Lacking enough regenerative sleep also compromises the ability of cells to regenerate, lessens the body's immune function and raises the level of inflammatory chemical substances in the body, which in turn may cause us to become ill.

For this reason we may feel like we will potentially catch an infection or a cold when we are not getting adequate sleep. This is recognized by the results of experimental research done by the University of Chicago which found that subjects who had been restricted to only four hours of sleep during a weeklong trial generated only half of the normal level of antibodies they would have normally.

To sustain a healthy immune level, get a regular amount of uninterrupted sleep daily. What I personally found was by following the above food program, my sleep increased from approximately 4 hours daily to 6-7, often uninterrupted. I didn't expect that what I was eating was causing sleep issues and I had never drunk caffeine or eaten much in the way of sugar yet, I'm thrilled that I can now sleep through the night and awaken refreshed.

 Maintain a Regular Exercise Regimen

You might have heard it all too often: The human body was not designed to withstand long hours of a sedentary lifestyle. Being stuck behind a desk all day, lounging on a couch while watching TV, or just plain avoiding the need to exercise minimizes the efficiency of our bodily systems, including the immune system. Moving or exercising not only increases oxygenation at the cellular level; it also stimulates the body's lymphatic system (which flushes out toxins and has been called the "garbage system/truck" of our body) and promotes the reproduction of leukocytes (cells that prevent infection).

Maintaining an exercise program to keep your immune system going does not even require you be a hard-core exercise aficionado. A daily habit of 30 minutes of moderate movement such as walking around the block, running after your child or dog, or taking the stairs instead of the elevator or escalator, can accomplish wonders to help keep your immune system functioning. Remember also, resistance movements such as swinging kettlebells will assist in strengthening bones while working the cardiovascular and endocrine systems.

 Ease Excess Stress

It doesn't take a genius to recognise that stress is, and always has been, a normal part of our daily lives. We are exposed to stress at work, at home, actually, even in social situations. Stress appears so omniscient that some have chosen to develop adaptability to it, attempting to acclimate to chronic stress until they burn out or become ill.

Stress is an element of life and we need to deal with it appropriately, just like any other challenge we encounter. Understand that stress is a condition that could be eased by learning a few methods and techniques.

Before going into that, realize that stress is a natural component to becoming stronger. Just as plants need the very hot sun; or a heavy rainfall or very windy conditions; or cooler weather to thrive; humans need challenging conditions to grow as well so, it's not about conquering or overcoming stress yet, learning tools to assist in relaxing and balancing to assist in coping. Stuff happens. How we handle it is paramount to staying well.

Learning to meditate will assist in slowing down and getting clarity in dealing with a situation. Developing deeper relationships and connection with people you enjoy and hang out with (remember also, maybe not seeing those who are into drama and who cause you stress). Movement is a really good way to blow-off excess energy; and, find something to laugh at. My favorite way is to do EFT.

Whichever course you choose to use, remember that you are making not just your immune system stronger but your whole being much better by understanding how to ease stress.

Transitioning to Health

What to Eat?

This morning I checked in with a group I moderate and one of the first qestions I saw was basically "What do I eat for breakfast!" Without even reading the (numerous) responses, I'm sure there were the inevitable ~ "Drink a smoothie" or, "Eat fruit until lunch".... blah, blah, blah. Ridiculous!

Now, if, like my husband, we're talking to people who normally eat a very light breakfast, or none at all, this "may" work! My husband will drink an 8 oz. smoothie and be good-to-go for a few hours. Me, on the other hand, I like my morning meal! I "may" drink about 24 oz. smoothie AND have a HUGE 2 pound "salad" shortly after.

He's currently drinking 1, 8-oz. glass of watermelon-mint blend. I'm on my 3rd glass and wondering what I'm going to eat.

So, to answer the question ~ "What to eat for the first meal?" (I've stopped calling it "breakfast" because people have a certain thing in mind that they're "supposed" to eat.)

My response ~ eat food! What will you eat for mid-day meal? What will you eat for your evening meal? Eat that!

Awhile back I inteviewed cancer surviving/thriving/marathoner Ruth Heidrich and asked her what she ate for breakfast. Her response.... salad. Now, at the time, I had no clue what salad could mean! Since going on Joel Fuhrman's Eat to Live program  I have truly learned what to eat.

Here goes! Food! Greens, color-filled vegetables, fruit, beans/lentils/split peas and a limited amount of seeds and nuts. That pretty much covers it... Oh! And a lot of it!

Why?

Well, many who are making the transition are used to eggs, bacon, ham, grits/rice/potatoes, bread, coffee and orange juice. They're used to eating a LOT and people are telling them basically to just drink the orange juice. No wonder they can't stay on the food program! They feel as though they're starving, and they are (of course in a different way than they were eating SAD)!

I keep hearing these people are "light-headed", "always hungry".... "weak, tired, dizzy.." Well hell! They're starving!

What they call a "big salad" to me is a small side salad. One meal for me consists of 4-6 times their "big salad"! It usually weighs in at 2-3#'s. Yes, POUNDS!

It may consist of greens.... about 3/4's of my 10" wooden bowl is full of a variety of raw and/or steamed greens; beans; cucumbers/bell peppers/tomatoes/jicama/Brussels sprouts, etc; some type of fruit, often berries/figs/tangerines/strawberries (yes, you CAN eat fruit with other foods); and a sprinkling of nuts or seeds. Ocassionally I'll add some quinoa or buckwheat soba. I eat 2 of these a day. I drink water! I "may" have a smoothie since I make them for Himself.

The point I'm making here is, stop being afraid to eat! If you're looking to drop excess fat, EAT! As long as you're eating plants... it will happen naturally.

Change Cravings from Junk to Food ~

Your Body Will Thank You

Experts are finding it is possible to rewire your brain so that it wants -- craves, even -- food, not junk.

How? By following a healthy diet. Sounds simple, doesn't it?

In a pilot study published Monday in the journal Nutrition & Diabetes, scientists say that changing your eating behavior can actually change how your brain reacts to junk or nutrient-dense food.

Yes it does! Choose plants, not packaged, bottled, canned products and eventually, your body will actually crave ~ YES! Healthy, nutrient-dense FOOD! How about that?

Not Enough

So very often we tell ourselves we're "not enough".... Not smart enough, not old enough, not young enough, not good-looking enough, not rich enough, not tall enough, not short enough.... blah, blah, blah. One thing I know is, you are enough! The rest? How about we disperse the emotion around it and get you moving forward?

You can use the tapping protocol below when maybe looking at comparing yourself to someone; maybe you don't feel that you're as good as they are so you can't charge what they do....

Remember, this is just a guideline/recipe. As with any guideline, change it up to fit your own experiences.

First, you may want to check your frustration level ~ from 0-10 ~ 10 being utmost frustration. Remember the number.

KC ~ Even though I've been told I'm not enough and parts of me keep saying it, I choose to realize I AM enough and can do pretty much anything I set my mind to.

KC ~ Even though I often feel I'm not enough, I choose to focus on improving what I can and giving it my best anyway!

KC ~ Even though I still remember hearing that I'm not enough, I choose to know how capable and "enough" I really am!

Going through the points ~

EB ~ I'm just not enough!

SE ~ Not good enough!

UE ~ certainly not as good as (fill in the blank)

UN ~ how can I possibly be good enough to (fill in the blank)

CH ~ I'm so frustrated!

CB ~ how can I do what I want?

UA ~ How can I charge what I want when s/he is charging that and is so much better?

TH ~ maybe I just need to learn more; do more; be more before I even try!

UE ~ BUT, I'm GOOD at what I do!

Appreciations

What Are They Good For?

If you are not receiving what you say you want, check inside and see where you are coming from. Is it appreciation and gratitude or complaints and ingratitude?

Realize this ~ YOU are the creator of everything you've manifested so far ~ good and bad. YOU attracted what you have to you, whether it's on the physical or emotional plane.

Suggestion: In order to receive what you say you want, start with an attitude of gratitude. All that means is, realize what a great creator you are. Appreciate it. I know, some of you are saying ~ "I didn't create this (fill in the blank)". Yup! You did and as soon as you realize it, get the lesson from it, appreciate your creativity, you can move on.

You've probably heard ~ what you focus on expands. IF you are focused on not being in debt, you are still focusing on debt. IF you are focusing on your poor relationship, you are still focused on poor relating. Focus on what you DO want, not what you don't want.

If you want to be healthy, focus on health; if you want to be abundant, focus on abundance (now, be specific on this because I notice many of you are focused on abundant drama and complaints).

What you will find is, more about you. Some people cannot handle more good in their lives. They don't feel they deserve it or they feel they'll be taking from others, etc. Well, I KNOW you deserve to have all the good in your life. How do I know this? Quite simple ~ you exist. You were not put here to struggle. You were put here to learn some lessons yes, yet, here's the thing. Many people keep doing the same thing over and over and don't get the lesson! Wake up!!!!

As far as having/not having, the universe is unlimited. There is enough here for EVERYone to be totally supported. Thing here is, many are unwilling to receive which means there will always be extra for those who are.

More on Abundance

What is it Really?

Abundance is not just about money and things... It's about joy, happiness, fulfillment, relationships, love and more...

Being poor is not fulfilling. It doesn't help anyone. Thinking that is like saying being injured yourself will help someone else who's injured. In what way? It may assist in being compassionate yet doesn't assist the other injured person.

Now that I'm writing that I'm remembering how often someone says ~ "Oh! I'm glad I'm not the only one going through this." Why and how is it people want others to be as poor, as sick as tired as they are?

For me, I'd rather have someone say ~ Been there, done that and this is how to change that.

That's what I do here. How does one go from being ill to becoming healthy? How does one go from being poor to being wealthy? How does one go from poor relationships to one of love and support?

Remember this though ~ every rich man has had losses BUT he knows how to regain those losses. Every healthy person has been ill yet knows how to regain health. Every person in a loving supportive relationship has lost that relationship ~ yet knows how to love so goes on to an even better relationship.

It is the way it is..

Abundance and Upper/Lower Limits

What You Focus On ~

You may have heard the saying ~ You get what you focus on.

Well, most focus on the bad ~ which is why I started doing daily appreciations to focus on the good in my life. Focusing and appreciating all the abundance in life brings it up a level in my opinion. Money and abundance are two things folk are afraid ~ for the most part ~ to acknowledge ~ and even to have. They think IF they acknowledge these things, they'll disappear ~ or, they may think they have so little, they feel silly acknowledging those things. Well, again, what one focuses on, one receives. Focus on the good; focus on the abundance you (yes, YOU) have created ~ and the more you'll receive.

Thing is, we all have limits ~ upper and lower. If you really look at your life, you might notice that, you have a certain limit in your life to how much you will allow yourself to have ~ or not have.

For the lower, most people reading this will not allow themselves to get to the point of homelessness yet, they will say they are "broke". IF they really look at it, they are not "broke". IF they walk around and touch each piece of furniture, each thing in the cupboards of their kitchen, the car on the street or in their garage; the job they have, the place they live, they can begin to realize their abundance. They are probably never without food; they probably have a computer (although I know of some who use the library); they have the funds to purchase the necessities. ALL of this, they have created. IF they can create this much, they can create more! One way to do this is to acknowledge that it was they, themselves, who have created this! (yes, you can acknowledge any deity you choose and thank for their assistance yet, YOU are the one who took the steps needed to ~ get the job you have; get the residence you have; purchase the food, etc.).

In order to have more abundance, one needs to acknowledge the abundance they now have AND raise their upper limits to what they can allow themselves to receive. How to do this? Find out how you, yes, YOU are stopping it from happening. I found, at one time (actually many times) that, when I held on to my last $20, thinking that's all I had, that, as soon as I let it go, more came in. Maybe you've heard the saying "Let go, and let God"? Well, basically, one has to let go of a lot of preconceived ideas and open up to what the universe can give.

People will say ~ Well, that's o.k. for you to say. You have this, and that and you live in this place and blah, blah, blah. Well, now we know how THEY are stopping themselves. They have their "buts" in the way. Get your "buts" out of the way. They are stopping you from having what you say you want!

Another thing is, I've heard many talk down folk who are rich. Soooo, if you ever get rich, you going to talk yourself down? How about celebrating the abundance of others? How about acknowledging your own abundance? Sure, you may not have millions of dollars yet, if you are healthy, if you have folk who love and support you, if you are still breathing and still have opportunities, then you have wealth!

I have a friend who told me recently he has $375,000 in cash. He slowly raised his upper limits of what he would allow himself to have. At one point, $10,000 was his upper limit. (For many, $1,000 might be extravagant). His friend is a multimillionaire. His friend is focused on traveling, drinking, gambling. My friend is focused on living the good life ~ writing his book; being with his two women (yes, abundance); teaching others to celebrate life. Now, which to you seems wealthy?

Here's little trick I learned in order to have more $$$. I had an upper limit. So, I found, it was easy for me to get and keep $500. IF I went much above that, I'd have to spend ~ not circulate ~ it to get it back down to where I was comfortable. So! What I did was, when I got $500, I would put it in an envelope and put it away where it was pretty much not seen. Then, I'd start another envelope. When that got to $500, I would add it to the first ~ and start over. Before I knew it, I was up to $12,000 and had the funds to purchase a really good used car which I still have 6 years later. (It's got 0 problems so, I really LOVE this car!)

So, where does the original $500 come from? As soon as you receive some $$$. ANY money, from work, from selling something ~take 10% of that and put it in an envelope labeled “money tree” (yes, money does grow on trees). Then, take 10% more and give it to ~ whomever ~ place of worship, animal welfare....etc. The rest is yours. You will not miss that 20%. You will find that you can live quite well on what is left. Folks don't realize that they usually throw away more than that on stuff they don't want and which truly isn't going to enliven them.

One last word ~ spend. When one "spends" money, look at the last 3 letters of the word "spend". That's the end of it. Now, look at the word "circulate". What does that put in your mind? Circular motion? The act of giving AND receiving?

I only use cash. In exchange for my cash, I receive something else. It's a cycle. IF I do this consciously, it's an even exchange and I have circulated my $. If not, then, I've spent it. It's gone, it's ended.

Many folk use credit cards. They give some plastic then receive their purchase. Months later many are still paying for that purchase yet, the excitement of having it has gone. Oftentimes, IT's gone! (for whatever reason), yet, they are still paying for it because they over "spent"!

I have credit cards as well. They're good for one pupose.... build credit IF you wish to go into debt on a car/house, etc. Otherwise what I do is, I use the card to purchase something and pay it off then and there! My statement always says 0 balance. Cool, eh?

Addendum: I wrote this originally in 2006. A lot has changed since then. I now work for myself; live in a lovely 3 bedroom home with a fairly large yard with shade trees in one of the best neighborhoods in this town; I paid cash for a brand new car (not suggested as it loses a LOT of value as soon as it's driven off the lot) which has given me 7 years of great service so far and which I'm expecting I'll keep for at least 10 more.... Keep focusing on the good to eliminate the bad.

Food or Isolated Nutrients/Herbs?

What Works?

When I began looking to healing myself of various issues when I was 27, I looked at every herb and vitamin that was purported to eliminate them. Before I knew it, I had a whole slew of vitamins and herbs that didn't address the causes, just symptoms. It was only when I turned to whole foods and EFT (for emotional health/healing); not packaged products plus additional isolated nutrients ~ that I found health and healing.

Almost 40 years later at the age of 65, I'm feeling better than I did at 27 ~ no pain in my joints, no asthma, no acne.... I teach 4 movement classes weekly (and finding myself more flexible than EVER!); I take one weekly with the Zenkahuna (check him out on YouTube); have a private practice assisting others in THEIR health/healing and am happily married ~ 1st marriage, 10 years in August.

Remember, nature didn't make a mistake when she made our food. Food, not packaged/bottled/canned products give us all the nutrients we need ~ and then some! And remember, always, play with your food.

Vitamins, Minerals and Depleted Soil ~ Really?

Really?

I was recently in a group looking at one saying she's going to take some minerals to "increase her vibration." My question of course is, why not eat food?

The response came back that the soil is depleted; we aren't living in nature (D'uh, we ARE nature); and these minerals come from plants. Uh, well, if the soil and the plants are devoid of minerals.... how is it man can take SOME of the minerals from plants and make them healthier than they are when IN the plant where they're working synergistically with the whole plant and the plethora of other phyto/micro nutrients as well as fiber.

Many people will do ANYTHING and EVERYTHING they can to avoid eating food! They'll eat packaged, canned, bottled, and/or fast-food junk and then add some pills or powders to "try" and make up for the lack of nutrients. They're constantly looking for short-cuts.

In my opinion, there aren't any.

So, the question is, why not just eat food? As I'm writing this, I'm thinking the issue comes down to fear of not knowing how to prepare it; thinking it will take longer than it can... what? Why don't you (those who don't) eat food as it comes from the ground, the bush, the vine, the tree? Yes, I know there are "food deserts" where it's hard, even in America, to get food. Packaged products are everywhere yet, if you demand your local supermarkets carry more fresh produce it may happen!

Here's a quick, easy way to prepare fresh food. One pot, one bowl, one knife, one cutting board, one fork ~ in less than 8 minutes!
